Dual Credit Options - Partnership with Macewan University!
RE: Dual Credit Course Opportunities
Parents and Guardians of Mistassiniy School:
We are excited to be offering Dual Credit courses through MacEwan University. This program is an excellent opportunity for our high school students to get exposure to University-level curriculum. With these courses, students will:
- Receive 5 High school credits towards graduation
- Receive university credits that are recognized in most post-secondary institutions.
- Save $500-600 in tuition per course they take
- Have free tuition in highschool due to a partnership between Northland School Division and the University
- Have one class weekly of online instruction with a university instructor
- Have supervised working classes at school with help available to work on assignments
- Access to their instructor for extra help when needed
- Have a range of opportunities to transfer these courses into programs such as Bachelor of Arts, Child and Youth Care, Educational Assistant, and Education.
The courses being offered currently are:
Semester 1:
- TAST 101: Child and Adolescent Development
- PSCC 112: Policing in Canada
Semester 2:
- PSCC 121: Law and Administration
- Indigenous Studies 100
If you have questions, I have invited Mark Owens, Director of Student Engagement, Attendance and Completion with Northland School Division, into Mistassiniy next week on Monday afternoon and all day Tuesday to provide any further information and to answer questions that students and parents may have about this amazing opportunity. Please come to the school to meet with him or call the school at 780-891-3949 if you have questions.
Sincerely,
Karen Davies M. Ed
